Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Having chosen your Tour to The Alps we set off from the Eurotunnel around 8am Upon disembarkation of the Train you will make your way via a mix of roads towards the west of France for your first overnight stay Reims Area in the Champagne region of France where we can all get to know and introduce ourselves to each other.

Day 2: Having had a good evening and plenty of rest from our first day we mount our steeds once again and continue our way through the Ardennes of France taking in a few of the fantastic twisty roads through this spectacular region of Northern France.  We are aiming for Baden Baden this evening to put us in a great starting location for Day 3’s adventures.

Day 3: Having had a great nights rest in a picturesque area there is time for a look around the beautiful town before we set off to explore and meander our way down the beautiful Black Forest in Germany, famously known for its Spa towns and half timbered houses, it is even home to the Worlds Largest Cuckoo clock, The Grimm Brothers Fairy Tales and someone once mentioned its famous also for some form of a cake or gâteau??? We might have to check that one out somewhere!  Picking mostly the Famous B500 route, but not sticking religiously to it, we soon find ourselves gently cruising along the side of Lake Constance at the Southern point of Germany.  Within a few miles we roar across the Austrian border and make our way to the Westerly town of Bludenz for a good meal and rest overnight.

Day 4: We begin with a good Continental breakfast and make our way to the Silvretta Pass! Never heard of it? How about Piz Buin, yes the sunscreen that's on the travel shelf in your local supermarket? Well we are going to be passing very nearby that mountain amongst many others!  The Silvretta runs from Bludenz to Landeck and is one of the most underrated passes out there. We will then head south dropping across the border into Italy and taking the Reschen pass to Lake Resia. The visuals are striking: Tall, purple mountains, miles of lush, green trees, the expanse of the bright blue waters of Lake Resia and situated perfectly in the middle of the scene is a slanting bell tower that stands tall, jutting out of the Lake.  We stop and take in this for a while before we begin to traverse the mighty stelvio, staying overnight in the quaint town of Bormio in the Lombardy region of the Alps.

Day 5:  Refreshed?  There’s plenty more to come!  We don our riding kit and pack the bikes so we can set off for some Passes and these come quickly today.  Passo del Gavia, Passo delle Graole and Passo del Tonale  just three that we complete within the first couple of hours of today!  We come into Bolzano around Lunch time for a well earned break.  This afternoon is more of the same, with passes endlessly leading us into another spectacular pass for the rest of the day we eventually will have to admit defeat and stop for the day.  We will be in the area of Cortina d’Ampezzo for this evening where the smiles on our faces will say more than all the words we can utter for the evening.

Day 6: Cortina d’ampezzo has provided us with a peaceful nights sleep and set us up for what can only be described as a repeat of Day 5!  Lets get back on those bikes and effortlessly glide up and down more passes as we gracefully make our way towards Tolmezo, we begin our ascent up the Passo di Monte Croce Carnico or Plöcken Pass as its easier known, this soaring Alpine pass is favoured by many motorcyclists, with hairpin turns, tunnels & mountain panoramas.  We find ourselves winding our way into the Grossglocker National Park and Highest mountain in Austria at 3,798 m., with a road to the summit base & a visitor center.  Are you brave enough to ride right up to the Summit?  We begin to make our way down the other side after spending some time in the area soaking up the sights including the Pasterze, The longest Glacier in Austria and in fact the Eastern Alps.  We will be stay overnight around Zell am See.

Day 7:  We begin to take in the mountains from a different aspect for this morning, instead of going over the mountain tops we take a lower road back round the Grossglocker and ride through some spectacular roads that make us realise how the humble ant must feel when they see us in the garden.  We make our way South completely engulfed by mountains and pass through Brunico.  We begin to pick up more passes yet again including Passo Giovo or the Jaufenpass as its perhaps better known, we continue on through more passes for the afternoon before finally bringing another outstanding biking day to a close around Oetz in Western Austria.

Day 8: Today marks the final day of Alps territory.  We start of with another pass or two on some smaller roads to bring a nice close to the altitudinous part of the tour at the town of Egg and then  leads us onto some equally stunning flatter lands as we breach back into German territory marking the return leg of the trip.  We pass through many small towns and villages including the town of Rottweil, a medium sized town just outside the Black Forest region of Germany before we finally dismount for the day around Fruedenstadt.

Day 9: Refreshed we once again make our way through some more twists and turns on offer through the Black Forest and perhaps grab a last chance to try some authentic Black Forest Gâteau on the way.   We cross over into France now and explore some of the Vosges region in the passing before continuing on a mixture of road systems hugging the Northern France border to make progress toward the Ardennes region again to stop over on the penultimate day of the tour.

Day 10: Thats it….its over… OK its not really, we still have one final fling with the European mainland and on this particular occasion, France.  We spend around 6 hours avoiding as much motorway as is physically possible to take in as much of the national park areas of Northern France as we can before finally embarking the Eurotunnel and making our journey back to the UK.  If time permits we may be able to take a trip by Dunkirk to pay our respects also.  During the 35 min train journey back to Folkestone, we will have time to say our farewells, swap last minute stories and of course mentally prepare ourselves for the journeys we all make in separate directions back home to our loved ones at the other side after disembarking in Folkestone.  Now its time to reflect on the last 10 days of fun and laughter and realise how much your riding has come on in such a short space of time simply by experiencing new found challenges and then of course to plan where your next adventure with us will take you.
